I once helped a girlfriend with an experiment. She was an archeology student and she wanted to study how rapidly bones would decay in different soil conditions.

So she had all these bones delivered straight from a local slaughterhouse - horse, cattle and sheep legs... all with the flesh and skin still on them. We had to cut all the flesh off and then cut the bones into sections - in a lab that wasn't air-conditioned... in the middle of a hot summer!! Very soon all the flesh started to rot...

The lab was in a huge building but soon the people working in the dining hall three floors below were complaining about the smell! It was truly awful - it took weeks of washing afterwards to get it out of my skin and clothes... yughhhhhhh!!

Another time I was walking in our local forest and I found a plastic bag dumped near a road... and it was MOVING!! I thought someone had dumped a kitten or a puppy so I opened the bag.... I was kinda right... it was a cat... but it was dead... the movement was the maggots on it... and the smell nearly knocked me off my feet!

Back in the late Sixties in the Detroit area, the Riots were everywhere, and Military Tanks were rolling down the streets, not only was it "awe" to see, there was a smell in the air, that to this day, my husband and I will never forget.

I won't say it's the worst smell, but I do know of many apartments and homes where they keep cats or dogs, and the odor is very obvious.

That can't bode well for the health of the people living in them.

The pets of choice are dogs, and if not constantly kept clean, they will stink up your living space.

Dogs need lots of room, and unfortunatly people don't have as much living space like they used to.

Yet, people need to have dogs around them, and to keep up with them is quite a job in itself.

My ex-M-I-L's breath. When I had to have her in the passenger side seat in my car, I literally had to keep my head looking left and still it would find my nose. It was horrible. She may be dead now but probably doesn't smell as bad as when she was alive. Everyone has bad breath, but she could knock a buzzard off a sh1t wagon.
