Counceling is wonderful because someone, a stranger sits and listen to you, You are not judged. Talking to friends or family can be hard because they always have there opions but with a stranger i.e a counseler its great because they are not involved in your life at all and they just listen and try to help you to understand in better terms of what your feeling.
Listen to someone without judging them or having a opion about what your saying is something that we all need from time to time. good luck

You talk about everything that is bothering you...present past or future, it is all kept confidential aswell, but they are good listeners and they will talk about the best way to resolve your issues, everyone i know who has had it has felt competley comfortable with the counceller!! dont forget the are specially trained people and are proffesional in these areas and have trained for years for it,

No one will tell you what to do - if they do, change counsellors. They will just listen to you and try to put your own words back to you in such a way that you feel they are not judging ANYTHING you say, that you are ok and then ultimately, you will see that there might be a different way of seeing your own life and you can change your mind - literally.

depends on what method they use. i prefer cognitive therapy because you figure it out on your own at a nice pace. in the old days the shrink would say blah de blah and you would answer then they'd say hmmmmmmmmmm....... either way you end up curing yourself - it's just the approach and how open-minded you are.
what happens is what you allow to happen - you're in control !!

the councillor sits and listens to what you have to say, he wont give his opinion, lets you do the talking and don't be afraid to pour your heart out, it does help but might take a few visits before you feel any better
