I like them too, and if we ever find an even better way of obtaining energy, they can easily be removed, leaving no trace behind, unlike nuclear or oil drilling.
It's a good question, because so many people refuse to make connections between their own actions and their environment. I think objectors to wind farms should be challenged about their own energy comsumption.

Wind power is not a very efficient method of generating electricity. One of those massive wind farms only creates enough energy to power a small area.
A combination of renewable resources is perhaps one answer: wind, solar, hydro-electric; depending on the terrain and location of the resources.
I wouldn't mind if they built a wind farm where I live. To me they are not an eyesore, but rather serene.
Maybe we should all pop down to Curry's and get ourselves a solar panel or two. They are light sensitive so even if you live in Scotland and never see the sun, they will still work. Also, they store energy, so you'll never find yourself in the dark. A friend of mine has a couple on his roof and his electric bills have more than halved.
Education is another answer - not enough people have access to info about renewable resources.

Because parliments (Englands) energy answer is always cover someone else's backyard in them....on this occasion (and every other occasion btw) specifically Wales and Scotland..where you push through these policies (like the gas pipline - that is being created the width of wales to supply English Homes) through weight of numbers (mps) in England.
You could run the whole country of Wales (2 million people) on about half a dozen of them, (or half a nuclear power station) but would need to cover the whole country too supply england.
Cover your own damn country.

Selfish people who move to the country and price out the locals while driving great distances to work in gas guzzling 4 X 4 s are the first to complain.

They don't like the way they look and they think they are noisy. I think they look cool and represent man trying to work in harmony with our natural surroundings. As an Engineer I can appreciate the design too and I have sat nest to some and they are actually quite quiet with just a dull relaxing swooshing sound.
I'm all for them!

I don't understand why people have a problem with them - I think they are great. There are some off the coast of Gt Yarmouth which actually look quite stunning - people should think more about sustainable energy - I am fully in support of renewable energy sources - more windmills please!
