I had an HP Pavillion laptop for 4 years, and had few problems with it, until the internal power source died after four years of heavy use. I didn't like the celeron processor, but at the time, it was that or no computer, so I got it.

I now have had a Gateway laptop for 6 months and like it a lot. It has all i need, including an AMD Turion 64 processor and 1 gb ram. Again, it was on sale, and I only had a certain amount of money to work with.

My attitude towards electronics, is to do the research, particularly on the specs, and know what I want, as well as doing some research on brands.... then I get the best that I can for the money that I have in hand to work with. (I don't buy on credit). This has worked for me for many years.
