Do our comments and thoughts make any difference? I'm not talking about the answers to direct questions - like "what plant should I grow here?" but the general political questions. Does anyone read them or is this just a sounding board to rant and rave?

no Libbyft - I'm not that conceited!!!!! There are so many varied and thoughtful answers given on this site that it would add to any politician's interest to read them. And, surprise, surprise, I'm not talking about the sarcastic or the stupid responses. I find myself seeing things from a different angle all the time.

hail Ceaser's mrs
well if its a sensible question i give a sensible answer in the hope it might enlighten the asker, course its up to them if they take note/belive your answer. To the stupid questions i give a sarcastic answer just to be mean, but overall I guess to the vast majority of people this q and a means nothing. Also its a good place to meet chicks

Political change is brought about one person at a time, so if you have read some of the peoples thoughts on here then they have been effective, however I understand what you are saying. The house of commons is only a sounding board with most of what is said lost in mist and smoke but it's still a valid and workable piece of our democracy. I have read peoples political comment and I am sure to some extent they have influenced me, so yes it does make a difference.

I'm not sure that it makes any real difference but there have been occasions when an answer I gave will cause someone to respond that a comment in the answer pointed out something they had not thought of and caused them to consider a topic in another light.

Some of the answers are very informative on this site and others just show how blind a person can really be about the worlds political state. People responding to others questions should try and give their best and informative answer to their ability, and not try to berate them.

It's a good opportunity for people to discuss their opinions and air their grievances. It would be really great if the politician were made to read the comments on sites like this so that they can see how the public really feel and what we think on different issues.

It depends on what you answer but occasionally you get a thank a message on your 360 or if they bother to award 10 points and provide the reason in the box underneath. sometimes people say I never saw it like that. Weather it actually makes a difference I don't know.

No, I truly believe that all world governments sit with baited breath reading yahoo answers!
They take seriously every answer, and with shouts of "that ceasers wife just made another really good point" change their policies accordingly.
I've heard that Tony Blair cries and stamps his feet when someone criticises him or his policies.
Which is why we live in this perfect world because every ones opinion counts!

V. Good question. I think an intelligent comment does make things different but not more often than not, the difference it is likely to make will be opposite to desired one.
