Depending on the roads you drive on. If it is highway, wellmaintenaned, asphalted, go for the 16".
If it is in the city, with bad surfaces or paved streets, go for the 15".
16: better roadhandling, less confort.
15: cheaper, less vibrations.

I had 16" wheels on mine (it was a quiksilver and I had the GTI wheels on it). They weren't anything special but suited the car as the quiksilver has the GTI bumpers anyway. I had it lowered 40mm at the front and the rear is a torsion bar but it could have been a bit lower really.

I would go with 15s, because with 16s you loose too much ride quality and the rubber is more expensive on top of all that, more of your rims lip will be exposed in a larger rim, you can't just drive, you will always have to be all out for and avoiding pothole.

16, go as big as you can, and don't forget to lower your ride.
