NEVER EVER use household detergents to clean your monitor!!! Instead, use a slightly damp soft cloth to clean your screen. This works for both CRT's and LCD's. If you need something stronger buy a product called "PixelClean" from "ScreenTek". It's only $12 for a kit that includes 1 fl. ounce of cleaner and travel wipes. For more details check out www.pixelclean.com.

if you have the old box monitor with a glass screen (CRT) then you should be ok to use mild household detergent. i used to just use polish. always came up nice and smelt lovely.

but NEVER EVER use anything on a LCD/TFT etc... they are a very thin screen, and strong chemicals could dissolve, discolour or warp the screen.

go to your local PC world store and buy some proper cleaning wipes for your screen.

you can get 200 wipes for less than a tenner.

Spray window cleaner onto a cloth and wipe the screen. Never put fluid directly onto the screen. Even better - go to a PC store and buy the special screen cleaner - it works better and leaves no streaks.

Soft tissue and balsamic vinegar with a sprinkling of sea-salt...

It not only cleans the screen but also stops the dirt/dust from appearing - finger smudges never seem to happen again!

Always use a anti-static foam cleanser, it comes in a spray can which you should be able to buy at any computer shop.

With a duster only. The marks go easily but you have to spend some time on them.

Sometimes I just use a lint free cloth or endust (dust spray) with the cloth.

Use your mother/wife/girlfriend, she is good at cleaning stuff LOL. My mother used alchohol with cottonballs to clean it, works well!
