Some things should be left to God.
This is one of them.

The only reason i would try to decide the sex of my unborn child is if i kept on spouting boys or spouting girls and wanted a change. Another reason would be if my spouse or I had a disease that would only be passed on to a girl or a boy...then I'd choose the opposite gender to spare my child the pain. But mostly, I like surprises. I'd just be glad to have a kid. I'm not gonna use God as an excuse for not wanting this procedure, though. God does not exist to me.

The closer an egg is to the woman's uterus at the moment of conception, tips the odds in favor of the child being a boy. The male sperm speeds towards the uterus at a faster pace than the female, causing him to use up his energy sooner. If the poor guy is too weak to reach or fertilize the egg, then the female sperm will just cruise by and create that girl you've always wanted. The odds behind this sort of "timing" aren't great, but they're there.
I wouldn't mind knowing for sure, our friends could buy gifts accordingly.. we could decorate the baby's room according to sex.. we can be more prepared for the raising of our child according to the baby's sex.
If my wife didn't want to know, that would be fine with me too. I'm simply saying that getting a "head start" in this way, would make things easier on us.. which in turn would make us more helpful to our baby.

I did decide. Naturally.
I had 3 boys and 2 girls. I love my daughters. Both are beautiful, and smart. I love having them. But, very expensive. And ol der years. It would be ridiculous to put a new baby girl in their room, and too expensive to build another bedroom in the house. My boys - the youngest one doesn't have a big age difference to a newborn, and well...boys are less expensive. Don't need a new dress every week. Don't need new shoes to match each outfit. Don't need a new american girl doll every time one comes out. Happy with a few trucks, all is good.
So I decided I wanted one more child. A boy would be perfect. Did all the right things, right time of day, position, diet, etc.
Well, instead of having one more boy, I'm having two more boys. But, life is perfect.

I'm sure that everything happens on purpose. My first baby was a boy when I was wishing for a girl, and Max happened to bring so many things in our lives at a moment when we needed them. When our baby Sarah arrived 2 1/2 years later she was SO different and brought to our life all things that we needed to complete the picture... It is not our job to decide!

I think that would also ruin the element of surprise, and i woudn't really care if it was a boy or a girl.

I don't know. I probably would never be able to really decide which I wanted more. Because girl or boy it would be wonderful. Just leave it up to God.

I wouldn't do it. God has a reason for giving us the babies we have. It's not right to mess with nature!

Even though it is possible through modern science, I would not. I am not God, and I am not going to try to be him.
