The govt only give tribes money for certain reasons. For instance, if the govt dumps nuclear waste on tribal land. Or a pipeline goes across the tribes land. They don't get money just for being born Indian no matter how much people think.
If they get money from the govt, it is then divided up among the tribal families. Most tribes have a % they recognize. In other words, if you can prove 1/4 Apache, then you get paid. Only 1/8 = no cash. Each tribe chooses what % they want to recognize.
Other benefits you could be eligible for would include being able to vote in tribal elections, apply to tribal colleges, applying for tribal scholarships, and things of that nature.

Well, you can live in poverty on one of their reservations, depending on which tribe you belong to. If you're San Carlos then you probably will have the benefit of being poor and having to deal with rampant alcoholism and illegitimacy. If you're White Mountain then you'd be better off because they have a casino and skiing. I don't know about the other Apache tribes but I guess they tend to be on the poor side.
You have the benefit of being dependent on the administrative "skills" of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. You have the benefit of having free medical care through the Indian Hospitals. I'm not real sure how adequately funded they are. There may be other benefits similar to these. Why don't you check with the tribe your ancesters belonged to and see what they are.

WOW! i can't beleive you asked that. That's almost as bad as saying "I'm black if I find somebody who's ancestors owned slaves back in the day, how much can I sue them for?"
