To barrel into someone is to run into them with your shoulder first ... hopefully, that is not what you mean ...

I looked up a site that has most terms and didn't find Barrel or another techinique I learnt. It is similar to what this site calls Pancake ....
PANCAKE - A one-handed defensive technique where the hand is extended and the palm is slid along the floor as the player dives or extension rolls, and timed so that the ball bounces off the back of the hand.

The one I know is a save for a ball going to ground. Dive with your hands palm down to save yourself from getting hurt, but hit the ball on the forearms. If you straighten your elbows as you strike the ball, it sets up your team-mates to return easier.
The arm position is similar to using a wheel BARROW (not barrel). Is that anything like what you were talking about? Otherwise check the website below

a barrel is an over the shoulder roll people do after getting to the ball and its close to the floor
