Looking for helpfull answers - Get a plumber is not helpfull !!

Water from kitchen sink is coming up the bath plug hole when its drained. This is also the case from the bathroom sink.

At first it would eventually drain off but now the bath is totally blocked. I have tried plunging and pumping to no avail.

Is Costic Soda or similar products a good idea or do i have to remove all of my bath panels and start checking ubends etc for blockages?

Looks like your drain line from te kitchen sink connected to the bathroom
which shouldn't be. The pipes are now clogged with anything that went through your kitchen sink plus that of the bathroom. This should not have happened at if if your sink and bath drains were of two separate lines.

Before you start taking drastic measures check first if your drain pipe has
a clean out. It should have. If found just get a big wrench, open the plug and drain it well. Just be prepared for the goo stuff that will come out. Admittedly a good and honest plumber will be of big help to you.

Caustic soda will help but before doing so pour very hot water in your sink
and bathroom drains. This will partly remove some slime or whatever greasy materials.

if caustic soda or other liquids will not work then sorry, you have no choice but to open up your panels.

Once you solve this problem set your mind for regular maintenance to prevent this from happening again.

Good luck!!!

The kitchen sink and the bath use a common drain line and the blockage is in that drain line. Leave the bath drain alone. Do not use harsh chemicals. Buy a plumbers snake and snake out the common drain line. You may find a cleanout access on the common line where you can clean the drain in both dirrections but be ready for some drain water either when you open the access plug or after you clear the blockage from the up stream line.

Its definitely a blockage. Do not use soda crystals as this can solidify in the pipe and cause more problems. There is a drainn cleaner called one shot that is brilliant - it stinks though so open windows first. If you can get to the traps it may be best to do this and clear those. Before doing anything, check outside under the manhole cover - if the main sewer is blocked you need proper help from a drainage company or landlord of you rent.

Propably got the main line blocked past the tub--body hair/soap,etc. This is where I would work on --at the tub drain. Yes-I have used 90% active (industrial) caustic soda for cleaning out bathtub drains(got it from work) and it works really great. Be careful--caustic soda reacts with water>especially warm/hot water< also creates fumes and will heat up --watch your eyes and skin(danger).Take some pieces of tin foil and make some tiny balls ---put these(many) down the tub drain first ---then carefully add the caustic soda (Draino) quickly --fumes will come up--watch your eyes!!! Wear glasses !!!. Caustic Soda reacts violently with those little tin foil balls causing the balls to be propeled around which causes agitation in the drain line and stirs up everything --hopefully breaking the "plug" up. The concentration needs to be a little on the strong side --You may need to do it more than once --again protect your eyes and there will be strong fumes to irritate skin and lungs and eyes. Be Careful and Good Luck.

liquid plumber or one of the power flush things that actually blows air into the drains, but cover all other drains as until you blow the junk out of the house it will come out your other drains, it may be that the drain line going out of the house is blocked by tree roots, you should have called the owner of the house when the first blockage started. if this stuff doesnt work get a drain snake that attatches to an electric drill and try that. good luck

Try the prorietry drain unblockers - mr muscle etc.

in the bath, not the kitchen sink. And only if you are on mains drainage, not a septic tank.

Ideally you would run both wastes to an outside gully, this will prevent these problems.

As its a problems that gradually got worse its unlikely to need dismantlying the panels.

It sounds to me like the blockage may be further back in the main drain. Does your toilet flush away OK ?

Toilet and other wastes may be on a different pipe run to the man hole if the Loo is OK.

I would start to look outside for a manhole cover. lift that up and see waht you can find. You should be able to see the bottom of it with channels coming in from the sides and flowing into the main channel. If it is full of fluid and sewage you need a set of rods to push it through ( towards the road out side of your house usually)

Whenever this has happened at my house, it has been because of roots blocking the lines. If this is the case for you, you will have to call a plumber to rout out your lines. Make sure you put plastic down in the area the plumber works because it can be messy.

It sounds to me as if you have a back-flow problem with your pipework, you will have to fit a unit that allows water to flow one way only, they are not expensive and are easy to fit, you should not need a plumber if you can use an hacksaw and can gain access to all the pipework. just cut the pipes, fit the unit which you tighten by hand just make sure that the tongue inside the pipe is facing toe right way, if your not sure which way run water into unit one way will stop water the other way will allow water to flow. Hope this helps and good luck.
