Is your areola sometimes a purplish color - especially if you are fair skinned? Do you think it's normal for it to be that color when not pregnant? I have had a hysterectomy so I know that's not the reason. Could the circulation be bad in that area? Thanks!

Mine have never been a purplish color. I am fair skinned and the aerola is pale also. If you were having circulation trouble, I believe it would show up in your fingers and toes first.

If this is a recent change you should mention it to your doctor next time that you see him or her. I don't think it could be anything serious though.

Good luck to you.

There is no right color 4 them 2 b. Unless they r blue or green or something un natural looking. I 2 am very fair skinned and mine r brown. If this is a new thing I would get it checked out.Never hurts 2 b safe. But if this has been this way, stop stressing over nothing! I kinda stressed myself when I was younger cuz I never saw white people have brown areola's. Til I was with a Spanish dude...they have brown nips 2!
If yours r changing from a pink color to a purplish color that's just the way u r. Mine turn different shades of brown. Depends on if I'm cold or they were cooped up in a bra all day long...many variables.
But PLEASE like I said b4 if this is a new thing make that Dr apt!

Hey First of all when you say "Question for women only....."
It really means .. hey everyone, including guys, come over and give stuipd answers.

Generally purplish areolas tend to naturally happen to darker skin toned people.
You didn't say whether or not you always had them (purplish areolas).... if you always had them, since birth or puberty, don't worry, its probably just your own unique "feature".
If it is a recent change i would worry a bit more. It could be from poor circulation, or it could be more serious, Does breast cancer run in your family? Either way You should at least be doing self breast exams and seeing people like me (OB/GYN).
Also did you ever get breast implants? That could be a cause also. Remember.... Menopause isn't waiting forever.

Good luck........ :)
