how do i clean a lamp oil spill from a carpet?

Did it leave an oily spot on the carpet?
The old lamp oils were the same as dry cleaning solution and would be OK once they dried......Has it completely dried....If not put a fan on it and then wait and see what happens.....

Dish soap. You need a soap that absorbs oil really well.
