YES. A tubal ligation is not always 100% effective. Go to your doctor immediately, because you could have a tubal pregnancy on your hands. If not, one of your eggs may have slipped by the ligation and you could have a normal pregnancy.

NC15672 you are a cold hearted . STFU. She didnt ask what she should do, just if she could be pregnant. I know that I am not the only one who will take offense at your callous stupidity. I doubt she would have 4 children if she felt that abortion was an option.

BTW, it all depends on which method was used to do the ligation. The old way was to cut and tie the falopian tube. Because that was permanant and many women changed their minds later, new methods such as lazer were introduced. However many ligations are merely a clamp placed around the falopian tube and cinched down. And the lazer is also not 100 percent. As long as the Falopian tube is still intact, eggs can get past or sperm the other direction(up the tube) causing the tubal pregnancy which can be life threatening. A large hospital or maternity clinic probably used a lazer, a smaller hospital or Clinic who couldnt afford a lazer would have used the older method.

If a woman had her tubes tied correctly, there is absolutely no chance of becoming pregnant, unless there was a "recanalization" of the tube. Of course, if the tube was incorrectly tied, it would not prevent pregnancy. If a tubal ligation was done correctly, there is no reason to take birth control shots. If she does, indeed, become pregnant, she has to just go to a regular obstetrician for antenatal care. After the pregnancy, she can have a hysterosalpingogram to see if her tubes are tied or not. If a woman is expecting, she only has to take prenatal vitamins and, perhaps, iron supplementation if her hemoglobin is low. She should see the doctor every month at the beginning of pregnancy.

There is some chance of reconnection of the tubes, but it is a very slim chance. It also depends if the doctor tied the tubes or sealed them shut with a laser - the laser method is far more reliable. I would suggest that you contact your doctor and have him/her check you thorougly and do a blood test to verify the pregnancy. Also pregnancy after your tubes have been tied could be a tubal pregnancy and makes it all the more important to check with your doctor. Good luck and good health.

Yes, it is. I've even seen a tv show where a woman & her husband had been "fixed" & she still got pregnant 3 times after.
