Just as with all magnifying glasses, it depends on the intensity of the light source and the refractory properties of the lens-- the material of the lens isn't the issue just its abilty to concentrate light on a certain point.

why not? I saw on the television show myth busters that they started a fire with a lens made of ice. guess the trick is that the glass, plastic or ice lens has to be very clear and no scratches..so as not to diffract the light rays and to keep them concentrated.

you certainly can, The plastic Focus the light ray's exactly the same way as the glass.

So long as it is properly shaped, regarless of being made of ice, glass, or plastic, you should be able to focus the beam enough to create fire.

stop smelling it. if you haven't inhaled that much of the smoke then u should be alright. but if you keep inhaling you can die. not joking. plastic has bagillions of chemicals in it. so have fun burning plastic but try not to inhale the smoke
