In America, it is illegal to drive without a driver's side mirror. If there is a inside rear view mirror the passenger side mirror is not required. If there is a passenger side mirror, the inside rear view mirror is not required. There must be a minimum of two mirrors operational at all times to be in compliance, one of them has to be a driver's side mirror. Operational meaning: adjustable, and not cracked. Anyone who tells you otherwise just hasn't gotten caught or ticketed.

As it is dangerous to drive without a wing mirror on either side, it depends on your local statutes and laws. some states or cities require at least a driver's side mirror. Some do not as long as you have a rear view mirror. Check your local laws.

I believe meday to be correct.
It is not illegal in the uk.
Unless the mot requirements have recently changed it used to be that as long as you had two of the three mirrors fitted it was an mot pass.

In America, it is illegal in all states.
You might get ticket. And you deserve ticket, as this is VERY dangerous to OTHER drivers.
There are good safety reasons for this law. Follow them, and next time, do not knock mirror off of car!

Leagally you need 2 mirrors in your car. So as long as your rear view and passenger mirrors are still working then you can drive without it. However I wouldn't recommend you do it for long...it is surprising how much you use it without realising.
