This question always gets lots of debate, and rightly so. Having said that here's something else....the best QB in history has nothing at all to do with SB wins. SB wins are a team effort and I think any NFL QB out there would tell you exactly that.
The TOP 5 QBs that I've had the pleasure to watch in 40+ years:
1) Elway
2) Marino
3) Unitas
4) Staubach
5) Montana

Clearly, everyone else is wrong, and I am right.

Too much emphasis is put on winning the superbowl. Football is the ultimate team game, great teams win it all, and there is much proof a team does not need a great QB to win it all. Trent Dilfer? Jim McMahon? Brad Johnson? Mark Rypien? Jeff Hostetler? All QBs who won the SuperBowl, yet none of these guys will go to the Hall of Fame unless they go buy a ticket.

Dan Marino holds records for most career passing yards, single season record for passing yards, most career touchdown passes, and about 20 other passing records. I'd vote for Dan. It's not his fault Miami couldn't get a running game going.

Dan Marino, John Elway, and Steve Young were all great, but I'll have to go with Joe Montana.

Joe Montana was a great quaterback

how about Tom Brady 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and he's proven to win the big playoff games as well. and he doesn't have any great WRs to throw to.

Joe Montana was the greatest QB that I've SEEN.

Joe Namath won ONE GREAT GAME. He shouldn't even be metnioned with some of the great passers (unless you count his passes at reporters on MNF).

I would have to say Joe Montana, although Dan Marino was friggin awesome too. Oh, by the way, they are both from Pittsburgh, as am I.
