specify which email program you are using!
Also make sure you are not exceeding the attachment limits!

You need to explain more fully what your problem is, we're not mind readers!!

However, are you sure you haven't clicked on the Send Attachment (or similar words) in your email compose box? That guides you to how you can place an attachment.

First of all which mail service you are using and what is the maximum attachment size
If the file is *.zip/ *.txt/*.doc/*.xls/*.bmp/*.ppt/*.jpg/wma then it shoul attach
If the file is *.exe or some thig like application then it should not

I too faced the similar problem.Your file must be too huge to get attached.Try again it'll take time if you using dial up connection.
