In my dream,I had an argument with my mom.She did something to me, but I don't know what. I don't think she did the thing on purpose, but she wouldn't say she was sorry & I thought to myself that if I had done the same to my child I would say I was sorry.Then I began walking through doors that all looked very different from one another.As I went through each one I locked it behind me. Then I woke up.
I went through something similar to this with my mom years ago. I told her how she had hurt me and instead of apologizing she said, "I'm not sorry for the way I've lived my life." That stunned me because if my child told me that I would ask for forgiveness for hurting them. She said she wanted us to be friends and when I informed her my friends don't treat me that way when I tell them they've hurt me, she said, "Okay. I 'm sorry then." in a very flippant way.
I get the first part of the dream because I lived it years ago.
What do the doors mean though? Thanks.

I think that the doors represent your conflicting feelings about your mom. I think that they are so strong and confusing that the easiest thing to do is to shut and lock them which represents shutting out your mom.

Maybe they are your minds way of putting an image to your attempts to get something from her that you aren't getting (the right apologies). You may have in your mind that you've tried one thing (maybe just a simple remark) and then a different thing (another remark) and then another thing; and even though you've tried different things (the different doors/different remarks or different events or times) you have realized those things weren't enough.
Closing the doors could mean you tried going through and saw it didn't work, so "case closed" on that particular attempt.
Your mind may also have used the image of the doors and the walking away because you have felt that every time you've tried to get what you need from her and failed it is moving you farther away from her emotionally.
Just my guess.

Doors, I believe are options. It seems clear that you and your mother perceive things differently. Your perception of a situation is understandable but also so is her's. It is unfortunate that she is totally disregarding yours. but if your make her out to be the bad guy, she is only defending herself by saying "I'm not sorry for the way I've lived my life"
I too went through this with my mother. And now I understand why she was so crass to my perception and I forgive her. But what I also did was to explain to her what I have to you. That it is not right for her to disregard what I saw, from the angle I saw it. I helped her see things from my point and asked her
"would you feel the same way?"

I think the doors could mean your opportunities, the ones with your mom etc... It's like your mom has closed herself off to you. In essence closing the door (& locking it) on your relationship & your other options as well. Just a thought

maybe it means you got past something in your life and you're not gonna look back on since you lock them behind you. sounds like it means you dont wanna look back
