Choosing a laptop for a primary computer is a bad choice, unless you've got lots of money.
You end up paying twice as much for half the speed, have a dinky screen compared to a desktop, a smaller hard drive, fewer removable storage devices like CD writers, less memory, and less functionality. The list goes on.
Unless you need the mobility, use the laptop only for its intended purpose -- as a second computer, not a primary one.

Desktop definitely for gaming. The battery life would require you to keep the laptop plugged into a power outlet all the time. That makes the battery lazy, it won't take a full charge.
The two laptops I've had became an expensive investment in batteries and the replacement battery didn't seem to charge up as well as the original battery that came with the notebook.

For internet gaming, i would prefer a desktop for a couple of reasons:
1- You mostly use the internet gaming at home i suppose and its better to have a desktop at home so u can game comfortably.
2- Gaming desktops are cheaper than laptops
3- Laptops come in handy if you are on the move and i dont think with internet gaming ur on the move :))

Desktop - gaming generally requires high-end graphics cards and while some laptops have really good cards, the best are for Desktops only.

No single computer type suits everyone alike for gaming. Try to see which one works best for you and suits your preferences. For me a desktop is more effective when I'm at home, but for gaming on the go, it's a notebook hands down.

desktop. Cheaper and can be upgraded more easily.
Laptops are limited because of lack of space. Lack of space, means lack of airflow. Lack of airflow means lack of cooling, meaning cooler components (IE the downgraded ones)
For gaming you want a desktop, which has the advantages of
1.) more power
2.) Upgradeability
3.) Inexpensiveness.
