I noticed today that the front left channel of my Yamaha RXV-2095 is quieter than the front right channel (this is via the whitenoise test setup). I've verified that the balance is centered and that there are no parameters in the menu that would account for this. The channel isn't completely dead but is about 1/4 as loud as the right one. I've swapped both speakers and verified that it's not the wiring or the speakers. Anything else I should try before I buy a new receiver?

A deaf ear?

Well, if you really don't want to spend the money on a new receiver, you can balance it out with the balance control so that both channels are equal. It sounds like you'll have to get a new one, since 1/4 of the volume is pretty bad. I'd guess that the amplification circuitry is going bad. You might also see if it would cost much to have it repaired, since maybe you could get it fixed and save the cost of buying a new one.
