I'm in a mess!To save disc space i decompressed my files into win zip,but it didn't delete the old file.

Question

So i tryed in winrar, and izack, now i have triple files all over the place and i don't have a clue what to do without losing some important info .i'm using win98 and registry mecanic can't help me.I will try anything about now help.

I do not know how far you've gone to zip files, but :
1)- when zipping the files, you have the selected files in the zip file as you know. Then you have to delete manually the files which were zipped. Zipping files will not delete the files you zipped.
2)- When you said "files", I would imagine they are not application files. What you have to do is creating a folder, move ALL files into that folder, called DATA. Do not move zip files in that folder.
Now UNZIP (extract) all the zip files to that folder. Choose "replace all" when asked.
After unzip all the zip files, delete these zip files.
You are back from the beginning.
3)- Now you do as 1)-. Remember to delete the selected files after they are zipped. It is better to zip same kind of files together, and organized them.

The best program you can use to decompress all the different kind of files is Winrar.
