I have used bleach, but doesn't seem to work very well. Maybe I need to use it more of it? Do I just neet to use more elbow grease? Or is there something else that I can use?

The best and easiest thing for you to do, is to remove the stained grout and re grout. You'll need a grout saw ( don't panic, it is a tiny palm sized tool ),stain proof grout and a sponge. Directions are on the tub of grout. All this stuff is available at Home Depot or Lowes. Ask someone there to explain further, if you are unsure of yourself. They are always willing to help.

I tried everything: lemon juice, vinegar, bleach, oxy clean and the only thing that finally worked was Color Zap hair dye remover. $10 from amazon. All of the chemicals did change the grout color from tan to white. I wish I had just gone with the grout saw on the first day, but it became a challenge.

If you can find it where you are -- "Vim" "cream bleach."

I'm not sure why, but this bleaches like mad -- even on porous surfaces like grout, and even where regular bleach did nothing. I've used it to get some bad stains off floors and counters.

Pour it on thickly (it's cheap, too) -- a thin layer doesn't do nearly as good a job -- and let it sit for a half hour or so.
