I think this little article from housekeeping monthly 1955 can explain it far better than I could ever hope to, but I will still accept the "Best Answer" prize

While I like the answer above on the schedule and highly recommend it....I also think you need to define the role of a homemaker. Once the role and the associated responsibilities are defined, you can structure your day and time manage.

Here is what I expect from a homemaker:

-Cooking (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks)
-Meal Planning
-Laundry
-Ironing
-Washing Dishes
-Dusting
-Polish Furniture
-Mopping
-Vacuuming
-Child Care
-Clean Kitchen
-Clean Bedrooms
-Polish Silverware
-Clean Oven
-Clean Windows
-Grocery Shopping
-Going to the Dry Cleaners
-Conceirge for Husband
-Take out garbage
-Defrost the Refrigerator
-Interior Decorating
-Polish Husband's Shoes

IF your goal is to please your man, ask him what he would like to see done. This does not mean that you need to do the things suggested, but you can ponder them.

If you don't know how to cook, get some recipes online. Recipes.com is a good site.
