For the same reason that the winter coats come out in summer and the bikinis come out in the middle of winter. They just can't imagine how they well unload all that stock, unless they give us more time to give into buying more.
I may wish that every day had the spirit of Christmas (love, caring, generosity, etc.) but this is a bit ridiculous.
Maybe we should Boycott Christmas Stuff until it's the season. If we stand together, then they won't sell anything before Nov. 25th!

I live in Australia, and the stores usually start selling xmas stuff early September. It's like they make up for the fact that it's summer over here at Xmas lol

That's not strange, in the Phillippines they start celebrating Christmas in July. It's good to start shopping, but wait a month before Christmas so the price will go down.

They can't get rid of the stuff because the merchandise is expensive. Once it is Christmas holidays, they will still have a lot of merchandise in the store. No one seems to decorate their homes anymore. Sad.

yea, I know, it irritates me too.
I think the reason for this is to get people into crazy shopping spirit as soon as possible. you see all the 'christmasy' stuff and you go 'oh, it's only 3 months till Christmas!OMG - let's buy something nice for my mum/friend/boyfriend/old neighbor. and you buy but can't wait till Christmas so you give it right away plus you buy another gift just around Christmas. in short - this way the stores earn more, that's all.

Schools back, so they have no need for "back-to-school" stuff, it's mid season (here anyway) so the latest clothes have already been sifted through, and there's not much left. Mothers day is done, fathers day is done, so they need something to fill up the promotional aisles of the store.

target had 1 isle of Christmas and four or five of Halloween, i believe that only art supply stores should have the holiday stuff out early so the hobbyist can start their projects.

they have make their sales early in September, because in November and December the goons that hate Christmas and want to ban it start coming out of the woodwork and start sueing everyone for displaying Christmas related items.
