Some people say it is not good to do cause it "can" lead to health issues such as arthritis. However Chances are you will have arthritis anyways. I crack my back and my knuckles all the time. Most people who crack their knuckles have large knuckles because of it. Not always the case!

My chiropractor said that cracking your knuckles DOES NOT cause arthritis. I crack mine constantly because it feels good and I like the sound of it. I also crack my neck for the same reason. I have been doing this for about 20 years, and I love it.

I've been cracking my knuckles and back for nearly 25 years and haven't experienced any negative effects, not even large knuckles. Chiropractors crack backs all the time. With backs, I suppose it is possible to do harm if you do it incorrectly, but if you're just basically stretching and not wrenching it, it's not gonna crack unless it needs to.

there's no "official scientific evidence" proving that knuckle cracking leads to arthritis but a lot of people operate under that assumption. i would say you're safe as long as you're not cracking your knuckles multiple times a day...i can see how really over-doing it may lead to future problems (i.e. repetitive overstretching of capsule, ligaments, etc.)
