It depends how old he is, and what he is doing. In most states 17 or older. Before that age you can consult children's services in your state and explain your situation. Maybe they can help. I highly recommend military school or job corp. Good luck to you. Being a good parent to a bad child is hard and sometimes unrewarding work.

It may be the cultural difference thing but in Asian countries mostly kids are not kicked out, they are embraced in. There may be legal ages and constitutional ravings about what should parents do about kids but as human beings it is so hard to do this kicking out thing. Can we pause to wonder that how in the first place they are born. Don't we ask them to come to our worlds and make the difference. Is it that some parents get 'bored' with kids like they are spam and want to throw them out in the name of child's welfare. Yes sparrows and eagles let their young ones fly away from their nests but whatever happened to our sense of belonging. May be some people think it is time we re arrange our mindsets about existing 'rules' of parenthood.

one day before his or her 18th birthday. If you really want the child out bad enough you can get the child emancipated. Which means he or she is a legal adult
