This question makes me so sad because our children need to be helped to keep from being bored. It is not your fault because it seems to be the general state of kids today. TV, computers and video games have something to do with the lack of imaginary play being engaged in today. When I was a kid ( sorry to sound like every other old fart ) we didn't have any thing like that and TV was just for evenings with the family and Dad decided what we'd watch together. So we were forced to fill our play time with whatever our imaginations could conceive. We were always trying to make money by selling Kool-Aid, candy, Christmas cards, seeds or having carnivals in the back yard. We went to the creek and tried fishing with sticks, string and safety pins. Riding our bikes was not just for transportation...we became our favorite TV characters and the bikes were our horses or our motorcycles. We made things like dioramas out of shoe boxes, books out of notebook paper and magazine pictures, little boats out of leaves and thorns and sailed them in puddles. We hunted for imaginary treasure, became pioneers crossing the west, played cops and robbers, flew homemade kites, climbed on the roof to get a better view of the neighborhood and gave our mothers heart attacks. We played hopscotch and skipped rope. We covered our sidewalks with artwork. We played hide and go seek and kick the can. Caught lightning bugs, frogs and crawdads and then released them. Picked flowers for our moms from an empty lot. We read adventure stories and acted them out. Played with our pets and our friends. Played unscheduled baseball and basketball games and didn't really care who won. Today's children are crippled by our fears for them and by the mistaken belief that we need to "schedule" activities for them. We have ruined a whole generation of children by taking away their need for imagination. I say give them some suggestions and let them fend for themselves and see if you can't stimulate their latent imaginations....you will be giving them a real gift by making them think for themselves.

Board games, playing with parents. Give a child any age some paper, a pencil and crayons and watch them go. Creative stuff is always good. Little kids really do like boxes, musical instruments too.

i guess these suggestions depend on how old ur kids are, but oh well here it goes
-u can get them into some team sports with their mates
-have a fun bbq at a park with the fam of ur kids mates
-take them swimming
-buy one of those toys that take a couple of weeks to learn how to use well, thats NOT a computer game or Xbox or something
-make them a challege and give them heaps of arty craft stuff (e.g paddle pop sticks, empty milk, yougurt boxs, cardboard boxs, feathers...etc)and tell them they have to make a _________(eg, a machine that will clean the house hehe) and that they have________(eg15 hours to do it) the u'll tell them wat they think of it and if u like then they get a reward of some sort, ofcourse u will like it so be ready with the reward lol. while they are doing this u can relax
-OR u can relaxx while they are over at a friends house lol
seeya!

you could have them do rubbings (where you put a piece of paper over something, then go over it all with the long side of a peeled crayon) of different things, leaves are a good one, and then have them turn the rubbings into different animals or monsters.
or, if it's fall where you are, go for a walk and look for pretty leaves. take the collection back home. sandwich leaves between pieces of wax paper with crayon shavings and then iron to melt everything together. use construction paper to make frames for them and put them in a window.
go out and find some nice sized smooth stones. paint with acrylic paints, add googlie eyes and/or gems if you want and voila, their own pet rock/paperweight. :D
teach them how to play mancala if they don't already know. it keeps my daughter occupied for ages when I get it out.

depends on the age...
toddlers: play w/ their parents/each other/toys/watch educational but fun tv/movies
elementary age: watch tv, play video games, play w/ friends
middle school age: start hanging out at the mall and such w/ friends and parents (togetherly or seperately)
highschool age: go off to school games
in general--dont get bored, there's always something to do
join a club or sport
clean, talk to your parents, siblings, friends
exercise
and so on :P
