and that would accomplish what? leaders like him have built up such a personailty cult that the country would not collapse if he were killed. instead one of his officers would take over, and the tense situation would be heightened. if the plot failed, it would also make things much worse. If a leader of a country knows that there are attempts being made to kill him, then what deterrence is there against war? A NK leader who knows that the US is trying to kill him has no reason to not invade south korea. Say what we will against the assassination ban (personally i think there are situations in which it is better and easier to kill one troublemaker than thousands of his soldiers and civilians), it does remove the paranoia that would poison the atmosphere. Totally despotic leaders do not have to worry about being killed, and that makes them more likely to look at the long-run and less likely to start disasterous wars and make paranoid decisions.

It is illegal but that has never really stopped us before from doing what we felt was needed to "Keep Americans Safe" ie: wire tapping on domestic phones.....................
Anyways.. we should handle NK with kid gloves..What George is going to do to fix this one.. who knows.. sanctions?? China isnt urging military force they do not even know if any sanctions at all should be placed..
It is true that IL is an idiot, but this idiot just might decide not to test underground and really go for it if he is pushed or feels threatened.
Regardless of how I personally feel of the current adminstration, they need to really get it together and handle this problem in NK before it is too late..

I wish it where that easy, but as you can see, taking Saddam out of the picture set up a whole different set of problems. Some other crazy or crazzyier person would just step in.

Because it's illegal (against international law) and immoral and we shouldn't have to stoop to that level to deal with him.
