Yes.
And in some businesses like...one that requires driving or operating heavy equipment, it's mandatory by law that you get checked at least once a year.

Your employer can give you a drug test anytime they feel like it
This is the most controversial type of drug testing regimen. Some also note that it is also the most effective method to deter drug use [citation needed]. It is usually used by corporations, drug rehab centers, prisons, and more recently, schools. This method may also be used on teens by their parents, or mandated to be performed on teens at school. The point of a random drug test is deterrence, as the threat of detection is much higher vs. other testing methods[citation needed]. Companies use various ways of determining who gets tested, ranging from drawing names out of a hat, to using more defensible methods such as robust random number generators. The goal of this test is to discourage drug use among employees, inmates, or students by not telling anyone who or when they are to be tested in advance. However, critics claim that random testing introduces a presumption of guilt, and is a violation of privacy if the user is not actually intoxicated during working hours. In addition, random testing is more likely to catch cannabis users, since THC metabolites have a longer duration in the body than those of more harmful and addictive drugs.

Yes. I got sent for a drug test when I was at a job 5 years where there was no safety concerns and there was no reason to suspect me of using drugs, i.e. few absences or latenesses, excellent performance, no personality changes. I passed the test but I felt singled out for no reason, even though it really may have been random like they said.

YES!! They have the right to give you a drug test and a lie detector test every year if they want to. If your afraid they are going to find out about drugs in your system tell them your on prescription drugs and let them know what kind. Some testing requires you write down what prescription and non prescription drugs you take. I was turned down for a job because I take prescription drugs on a regular basis but the testing company didn't even want to know. I told them anyway.

Yes. usually in the contract you sign it states that at any point they are allowed to make their employees take a drug test. Pretty much every major company does that.

Yes they can. My husband is a business owner it is his will to have random drug test. It has to do with workmans comp and his insurance. There is nothing in the law that says otherwise. It is their business that they are protecting.

yes. as a supervisor i am telling you what will happen.I test my employees randemly.I ask them to sign a form for me to test whenever i want and if they refuse to sign then they are dismissed on the spot. You should have one of your clean relatives or friend to piss in a cup for you.Take this in a spillproof container(pill bottle) or simular and tie to your penis or near. When you are called to take the test then run hot water over the urine to get it warm. This is the only chance if your not clean. Please be carefull.

if you do it they can, if you don't that is another story.
If you don't like it don't work for them, it is that simple.
File a complaint as well, you are free from unreasonable searches and seizures of your person, including information without warrant, if you are in america.. drug testing is a form of search.
It depends on your locality perhaps all in all except for high risk occupations requiring complete occupation safety it is a non issue imo.
