First and foremost i would change my locks. Then hopefully see the gentleman again, casaully make conversation and ask if he saw any keys in the laundry room or in his laundry when he got home. Pay close attention to his body language to see if he's telling the truth, if you don't get a answer, politely end the conversation and go on about your day. Even if he does have the keys, you've already changed the locks.

What? Your car keys, apartment keys or both? If it were the apt keys, I would immediately change the locks to my apartment. If they were my car keys, I would find out who this guy is (from landlord) or call the police. Maybe the police can try to locate this guy and talk to him. BUT, before doing any of this, I would look really good (on the ground, in my pockets, underneath the machines, etc) first and make sure that this guy really did take the keys.

First of all you should never have turned your back on him. I suppose I would call the apartment manager and the law. Change your locks and even try to get your laundry done during the day or when you won't be alone.

That's awful! Whatever you do, don't go back to your place. Call the police or somone like a neighbor immediately for help. You can't just leave your belongings and your apartment with a lunatic running around. I would also suggest doing your laundry during the day if possible.

Here's the real problem how do you get in your apartment? You have to ask your self several questions in this situation.First ,is he going to come for you because he knows you can't get in your apartment? Second,he might be robbing your joint while your hiding out.Third, he might make a key,so you need your locks changed. So this kind of sounds creepy call 911 better safe than sorry.

report this to the manager, and insist the lock be changed, same day. No sense in confronting the person, if he is a thief he is most likely a liar too...next time don't leave your keys where anyone else can take them.

Who would be stupid enough to leave their keys laying around. Better change all your locks. What are the keys for. Your car maybe.

you need to confront the man....you don't want copies of your keys to be made. or, you can report this (even if it is just a suspicion) to your complex manager. somethiing like that concerns the security of the entire apartment complex.
