people tell me it's really tricky

the toughest part is being able to focus for the duration of the test. work up your endurance by taking practice tests (i recommend the book "8 real SATs" published by the college board itself). also, read books. it will raise your score in critical reading.
remember, the PSAT doesn't really count for anything, so don't worry too much about it.

In the reading section, always read the questions first, so you know what to look for. If you are unsure of an answer, eliminate the answer(s) that you are sure are wrong, then guess. Guessing after eliminating at least one answer is statistically correct. Lastly, they usually, BUT NOT ALWAYS, put at least one incorrect answer before the correct answer.

pay attention in your math class and for the english section a friend of mine took latin as his second language in highschool (that helped him). I bought a study book and just did the practice work and I read the flash cards with the definition of words
