Actually I have heard we might prolong it to about 150 years old, (that is being mostly organic still).
As for Mr Evils comment about not being remembered... Even IF Jesus was just a normal person, (which he wasn't) He did exist, and he is still remembered... Now Lets see here. We are just about at 2007, when Jesus died the year wasn't counted... So we still remember him 2008 years after he died, not to even count the years he was alive, (he lived to what 34?)... Don't say someone won't be remembered because they will be. Jesus, Plato, Da Vinci, Kepler. Lansing, Bell, Presley, (for Canadians) Sir Robert L. Borden, (Americans) Washington, etc... These are names that won't be forgotten.
Good point, student o. I was more so listing people everyone could relate to. And as far as philosophically speaking of who they are... You can judge a lot about a man by his actions...
Take the first Lansings to come to America... Built a Church, the town hall, (I believe) a library, and a lumber mill... that tells me they had a hard work ethic, and a strong sense of community.
Another example, Jesus... Have you actually read the Bible, and the things he said? This was over two thousand years ago, and it correlates with what scientist are say now. He will also always be known for the loving personality that he had, (as a human).
I am not trying to be rude, just stating my case...

Yes, the physical has to die since everything is in a flux due to time-space continuum. But there is something which does not die that is the Self. Why worry of the physical when within us there is an eternal knower who does not die. According to the Shathapatha Brahman the face of Yama (the lord of death) is hidden by a golden light and beyond this golden light lies the immortality.

philosphy is too complicated. Life is simple we are born and then we die.

it's life! it's part of the cycle of life.

we need to die to make room for the other people that are born onto this planet every second. that's mother's way of making sure the earth does not over populate

then again if you were a christian then no we don't have to die because Jesus will come back and raise us from the dead and we'll live with him forever in heaven. I like the sound of that better than living forever on this earth.

Just as you were born you must die. If you are a Christian, that is believe in Jesus the Bible explains the whole story of it. The Birth of Christ that is Jesus and why he came to the world to die for "our" sins so we did not have to go to "hell" when we did die. We are all souls with flesh, if you believe that way, and when we die we basically "shed" our flesh and become "souls" and if we do as the Bible says, seek "Jesus" as He is the only way to Heaven we live forever in heaven. If you believe, you would know this is a temporary life, your true rewards are in "Heaven". It's never too late to change your ways so you can get that reward. Read the Holy Bible, you can ask a Bible store for a "easy" to understand edition. If you don't believe, I can't help you.

Yes... unless you find a vampire that's been avoiding all forms of human contact for thousands of years and thinks you're someone he should talk to...........or God blesses you with some blessing that he hasn't thought anyone else deserved....or you sell your soul to the devil and he thinks you're more special then the rest.

Only thing in life you don't get to make a choice on. Where and when you have some control over but can't stop that from happening. How's that for powerless?

Yes.

THE FOUR LAST THINGS
Death, Judgment, Hell, Heaven

By Fr. Martin von Cochem, O.S.F.C.

It has ever been the practice of the Catholic Church to recommend to her spiritual children the meditation on man's ³four last things--death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell.² Keeping these sobering aspects of human destiny ever before our eyes, we will be that much less likely to fall into mortal sin and be lost eternally. Gives many facts we should meditate on as we contemplate death. This book has converted numerous Protestants in our day because of its cogent reasons for rectifying our lives.

if you're thinking when you get hit by a car and your heart stops functioning you are already dead then to you yourself you are dead, but actually you are not because your soul travels over and around to get to the next body it has to surcharge and make available in this world. but of course you don't have to die, the soul does not die. the key here is that you should connect your physical body with your eternal soul. OK?

Well dying is just a part of life like they say your born, you live, then you die. It is just a fact of life that we would like to change but cannot. This is supposed to be a time to rejoice because then we can go to the place where we were meant to be. Who is to say that we are not born again and again, Who really knows?

Since your question is under philosophy then I answer philosophically. No but we can choose to live much longer through those that will be after us. I use a reference to the Cushing Brothers of Delafield Wis. I use them because no one really outside the local region knows of them. But the live on in their own town hundred years after their deaths. They live through their deeds and though they have no family remaining in the town of Delafield the people remember them. But as history shows mediocre heroes live longer than most people but heroes live longer in history. At some point history will forget Lincoln and Washington but there will be someone whose deeds will outshine those leaders and bring that name to timelessness.
