It depends on the show and the network. Many major networks are now streaming free episodes on their sites.
ABC is streaming Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, LOST and some new ones on it's site- just look for the link on ABC.com. (or below)
CBS is streaming all three CSIs, Survivor, NCIS, Numb3rs and others on it's video player (Innertube) at CBS.com/innertube.
FOX is streaming BONES, Prison Break, Justice, etc. on none other than MySpace.com at MySpace.com/fox.
Even NBC is starting to stream shows on it's site, but none of the major ones are on there yet.

itunes.com , I do it quite often for missed episodes of Survivor. If your show plays on CBS you can get free episodes on CBS.COM but it has commercials and I found it to be kinda choppy on our computer. You may check whatever station you watch your show on.....they may have a free site. Good Luck!
