It mainly depends on what your into. if your into people related things, try myspace, friendster, xanga or some of the yahoo chat rooms. If your into Video games try an MMOG ((massively multilayer online game)). World of warcraft would be a safe bet to start with... and if your a book worm, just sign up to wikipedia and make pages for things you like.

Really depends on what you enjoy doing. The "web" is a client, and can be the entryway into a lot of different things. I do have to point out however, that "the web" is not the same thing as "the internet". The web (short for world wide web) is a technology that rides on top of the internet, but it is certainly not the only one. For example, email has nothing to do with the web. They are two seperate technologies that are enabled by the internet.
Fun for some people, is learning, reading news, corresponding with others in forums, or chatting. For others, fun might be playing counterstrike or world of warcraft. For someone else, it might be writing a diary, or an article on a topic that interests them, and publishing it on their blog. Media of every different variety exists and can be gotten from the internet and/or the web.
The best way to find out about things you might like, is to talk to friends who share your interests, and ask them about cool things they like or sites they go to.
When all else fails--- there's yahoo and google. Do some searches on things you like and see what sites come up.
