I curaintly take 150 mcg of levothyroxine due to my thyroid gland not producing enough. Does anyone know of any alternative substances such as minerals, vitemans, herbs, or whatever that I could store for use incase of emergancy? Or, does anyone know of any good websites to order meds with no prescriptions needed?

I'm not planning to stop taking my medication, I just want something I can store incase of an emergancy. I hate being so dependant on medication because if something was to happen and I couldn't get any, I would basically die. That would suck!

i just had a run in with thyroid cancer and dont have a thyroid gland at all, i'm taking the same thing, as far as i know its the only thing that'll work, and its very important because of how many things your thyroid gland controls, but if energy is your main problem you can take vitamin b complex, it'll give you a natural energy boost and dont take diet it pills those can interact with your meds pretty badly

I have taken synthroid for 4 decades so I know what you're talking about...and I do agree with the posters about the fact that nothing else works...I do have a friend who swears her daughter lost 180 pounds(yes, that is right) taking something she got at the local healthfood store that was thyroid of some sort but please note that the government makes sure there is no actual thyroid available in healthfood preparations. Armour thyroid is available and it is from cattle but it requires a script just like synthroid...
I order my synthroid from canadapharmacy.com and pay $29 for 100, .112mcgs pills...that is exponentially cheaper than what I would have to pay for actual synthroid thru my (if you will pardon the expression) health insurance.

There isn't any alternatives for thyroid problems. I have checked because my son has the same problem. Sorry to disappoint.

Synthetic thyroids do not work for me. I take Armor thyroid and it works great. Ask your doctor about it.

i dont think any herbals will act like your medicine does, the websites usually keep things like diet pills, viagra, and pain pills, but not serious medicine like you are using. stay on your meds. thats the best thing i can tell you.
