All you see out there are Toyotas, Honda. But Subaru is almost always shamed upon. If they are Japanese cars, why is Honda placed as the most durable car, while no one cares about Subaru?

It's all about taste. Subaru was never a popular choice because of it's styling and average performance for the price.

But ever since the WRX came to the US, you'll see a lot of WRXs and STIs on the streets. Those two are damn great cars for the price! And they have always been popular with Rallying.

Not sure what you mean about popular? Seeing as how i guess Toyotas and hondas are unpopular to the Ford F-150?? Which is the most widley sold car in the world.

But I have had many cars and currently own a 04 Subaru STi which i think it the best car i have ever owned. Price for performance is phenomonal and get great gas milage and with 30k hard miles so far with no problems.

You can check out my STi project as i am going to modify it to acheive 450AWHP for under $4000.

Honda market their product after they have done a thorough marketing research. They want to target mid income families, conservative young executives. Thats why they have Accord and Civic models. City and Jazz are for young females who wants style, economy and reliable cars.

Whereas Subaru is targeting hardcore drivers. Cross country and speed demons.
Check out the Subaru Imprezza STI version. 6 speed. boxer engine and improved ECU. Total drivability. Shear acceleration.

Great cars, well engineered. Marketing and advertising are terrible. That should change, now that Toyota owns a piece of Subaru.

The subaru WRX is one hot little car and if driven properly can
shame hondas, toyotas, mazdas, hyundais, but it simply has
not caught on in popularity...

Subaru IS popular, its userbase in the auto world has grown significantly in my opinion. I mean within a 7 block radius of my house here in IL there are about 10 wagons and normal imprezas. And in addition there are 5, yes i repeat FIVE WRX STIs. One which belongs to me =].

Subarus are virtully going to cost an arm and a leg to insure, fix and replace parts on and the body work costs heaps if it gets dinged or anything. they go well look good but they are from a rally bred family so they have fidgetty little parts that need alot of attention!

not many ppl want this type of car not like us , performance car fans, the model is not popular, the earth problem and the wiring problem giavalot of headache to mechanics, the market value is not stable, unless you r very very loaded if not you won't buy it and use it as a street car. the maintainance is expensive but what do know it is WRC car that y they r expensive in any way.

Because they cost too much. Hondas/Toyotas are much cheaper. And if something breaks there are hundreds of Dismantelers and aftermarket places.
