The desire to do kind things is a natural part of the higher mammals and their sociability. You see this in dogs, porpoises, and the anthopoid apes.
I don't see any connection between atheism and the mental disease of pathological asocial conduct, unless all atheists are sociopaths, which is an absurd link.
The desire to perform kindness is a natural human urge, and there is a name for those who lack this desire (sociopath).

You must think the average person does kind things to please God so if one does not believe what is the reward. Well I would say being kind is the right thing to do and Atheists are kind for that reason not because they want to please some God. Or because they are afraid they will go to hell.
I would prefer a kindness from an Atheist myself.

I can't explain it because I've never had any desire to do kindness. No one does anything nice for me, so why should I be nice to anyone else? Face it, there is no god.

I am a Christian, but at one time I was agnostic. I performed acts of kindness when I really didn't think there was a God. I was confused , but I was still kind. You don't have to be mean and selfish because you don't believe in God.

I'm not an Atheist ~ but the human heart and the feeling of compassion. That's one of the things that sets us apart from any other animal.

What the **** does that have to do with atheism, trust me there are many of you religious funatics who are cold hearted, racist, assholes. Just look at Christians and Muslims.
If you want that answer go to a psychology professor not some stranger who happens to be a atheist.

To feed their own ego, in a similar way to people who have a desire to do harm. It is about power of another person.

Part of human nature you moron.
Morality is like Geometry....it's the same regardless of religion, location or disposition.
Either you have it or you don't.
Read some Voltaire, or Kant or Locke.
