I thought Beckham actually stepped down as captain after the World Cup but said he 'would still be available to play' at the international level, if selected.
It wouldn't be fair on anyone trying out for captain to have the over-rated spot kicker still around!
Bring back Sir Alf.......

Well he is at about the age that most players begin to retire from International soccer so that younger players can start to get some experience and be ready for the next world cup, but he is also and extraordinary talent.

I think Mclaren is the most stpid guy in this world. How on earth can they drop a fantastic player like Beckham. Now they are paying for their mistake?
