I am wondering if the rapid heart rate that can accompany a panic attack is harmful to the baby during pregnancy?

Possibly. You should avoid anything that would put any additional stress on the fetus.

Anything that stresses you out, also stresses out the unborn baby.

But, in my experience, my panic attacks never lasted more than 20 or so minutes. Possibly an elevated heart rate for that amount of time will not do damage to your baby. It would be the equivalent of exercising for 20 minutes and raising your heart rate. But the stress of worrying about panic attacks can certainly do a number on your blood pressure, your sleep patterns, etc.

Talk to your doctor, there may be a pregnancy-related reason you are experiencing these attacks if you did not experience them beforehand.

Good luck! Been there, done that, and I know panic attacks are miserable...

Yes, I would say the less stress, i.e. yelling, screaming, ranting, the better. Your baby can feel every emotion you feel.

Hope this has helped you.

NO, absolutely not. That will NOT harm the baby.
