I'm originally from Oregon (US). What a beautiful state to live in. When I graduated high school, I went into the military (my step mom pushed me into it, because she didn't want me hanging around like a bum) and ended up getting stationed at Offutt, AFB Nebraska. Somehow, someway, after I got out of the AF, I ended up buying a house and staying here in Nebraska. I question this choice all the time. I wonder often why I just stayed here. I got a good job, nice house, friends, but all of my family is on the West Coast. I don't really know what keeps me here, other than I'm afraid to move and be a failure back home. (My family isn't friendly to other family members who need any type of financial help). So, essentially, I want to move back to Oregon, but I'm scared to fail financially.

Jay, you have a good job, nice house and friends in a state where you were a total stranger. What makes you think you would ever be a failure in a state where you have family and roots? If you're not happy, move back to Oregon and best of luck. At least you'll have the equity from the sale of the house to keep you going until you get re-settled. Just try to remember why you settled down in Nebraska though because you will be leaving a good job, nice house and friends. Best of luck.

It doesn't sound to me like you have a reason other thinking that your home state is beautiful to return to it. So go to a head hunter and find a job in Oregon that you will like.....You can keep your home in Nebraska and rent it out. If you aren't married you don't need to worry about it. If you are you better reach an agreement with your wife. She should want to follow where ever your dreams may lead........and you should want the same with her. Do not ever get STUCK anywhere...take a chance...go for it!

It sounds like you have all the makings of a good life right where you are: where is this urge to go back to Oregon coming from.?
You can visit the family, they could visit you; there is email, telephone, letters. It didn't sound like they ware begging you to move back, if they don't want to pitch in to help you relocate. but, in the end, you need to follow your heart.
I had moved from Florida to Austin Texas, and had made a really good life there. I moved back to Florida because my family was there, and I never rebuilt what I had in Austin and I regret not staying in Austin, but that's just me.
Congratulations and bless your heart for serving your country and protecting us and helping to keep us free!

i think of actually some human beings sense this form, some human beings extra frequently than others. yet from what you assert on your question it variety of feels as in case you have an prolonged existence earlier than you and you're purely on the initiating of a effective occupation. there are diverse people who've it a ways worse than you, this would not mean you should be grateful by using any means, yet in simple terms attempt and discover the best for the time of the undesirable. a terrific occasion is Tupac's Rose that grew from concrete, or Talib Kweli's Gutter Rainbows. The gutter rainbows element is that as quickly as Talib became a newborn residing interior the "hood" he used to bypass out and play on the line, and while it may rain the rain water could mixture with the oil and toxins interior the gutter, making a rainbow. while he became a newborn he used to look at those gutter rainbows and be like "wow this is gorgeous", in spite of if it is made out of toxins. i think of a terrific element for you're able to to discover a thank you to channel your emotions, attempt enjoying an device, exercising, interest, writing thoughts or perhaps writing lyrics. and that i in my view have self belief that extremely some the time having a girl pal is extremely puffed up, majority of the time in case you should rigidity or make your self to talk to them and stuff the courting will come off fake and compelled purely to deliver approximately disaster. i don't think of this is something to rigidity approximately. wish a number of that stuff can help you go with your destiny. =]

Jay,

Enjoy yourself & your independence. Its part of growing up & standing on your own 2 feet. Strike out by yourself & make it work. Your family will respect you for being successful by yourself. Also assuming when you eventually do get married & have kids, that will be your own family & the house will feel like home & if you shift to near her parent that will be ideal coz you guys will get the support. (son-in-law can usually hang around in-law better than vice versa). Off course it no rush now, I assume you may want to estabished yourself than go & find someone special & share your life with her.

hope this is of some help; peace, man

Oregon is a beautiful state. Go for what you want. Once you take that first step to follow your heart everything will fall in to place.

I am in Southern California. I hate it. My husband found work in his field here, my mom and her husband(my step-dad) live here, my brother is now here. But I am from up north as well. Yakima, WA. to be exact. Nowhere town.......but I miss it terrribly. My best friend is in Yakima......going through a divorce and I can't be with her. I hate it. I don't know what to do either. I sympathize with you.
