Hell lets just ban marriage/partnership altogether.Problem solved.

Should not be allowed. It used to be a "common law" marriage was legal but most states have ceased recognizing it.

If all domestic partnerships are to be recognized, how about people that have a dependent parent living with them?

No. Only unmarried homosexual couples in which one partner is underage should have domestic partnership rights. Isn't that what Hastert says?

If a state wants to recongnize a relationship as a marriage, civil union or whatever and pass on rights to those relationships then by all means I am for it.

The Federal government though should keep its nose out of the bedroom and let the states do what they think is right for their citizens.
