I am selling this item on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1970s-Fender-Jazz-Bass-Sunburst-Original-Hard-Case_W0QQitemZ140040680040QQihZ004QQcategoryZ64400QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The salesman I bought it from told me it was a 1965 Jazz Bass...but informants on eBay have told me it is a 1970's guitar; and a combination of P-bass body and Jazz-bass neck. Take a look at it, and let me know what price I should be asking. Some "guitar expert" wrote me an email immediately saying he'd take it from me for $1000...which makes me think I could get a lot more for it. He's probably trying to get a killer deal for himself since I don't know anything about guitar pricing. Thanks for the help.

Either Honestly One is not better than the other I think the difference is how you play Both are geogeous instruments. Fretless is great to get a Jazz tone in your blues which is the way I like lisening to Most blues But if you want to go fretted. I have a Squire that will do that very well too I only play fender (I like the feel of the fender) . I love them all. A Squire maybe a good comprimise. I love blues that has the jazz touch Fender Jazz Only because i am more familliar with fender. But you are dealing with two very high quality basses/ but once again i love fender (Two stratocasters 1 telecaster and one Squire bass)

$1000 might be steep for a hybird like that. Alot of players want complete items.

that being said, $1000 is on the low end for a J-bass or P-bass from that era. Interestingly, I found a J-bass neck that sold for $800 alone. I think you should definitely be able to get more than $1000 for it, and if you can't get $1000 for it as complete, you could sell it in pieces and get that much

Old classic guitars are like old classic cars if they are in good condition and are a good brand they will rise in value. I would really get it evaluated by someone that knows what he is talking about and isent intrested in purchasing it. 1000$ is not a good deal unless the Bass is in really bad condition. A P-bass today can go at least for 700$ so that dosent seem right to me. And if you dont find the right price right now hold on to it, it will only gain value if you keep it in good condition. Dont rush this and you should come out of this with a good chunk of change. Good luck.

truthfully man...I believe the vintage instruments sound as good as the new ones...just different...I'm coming from a musical standpoint here so if its money then dont bother reading this cuz I'm talking about something totally different...its like a blindfold taste test that reveals the generic soda tastes better than the name brand one...i dont think its the generic brand thats better...its just the difference in taste that your not used to that makes your brain say "hey...this is something new...sweet...I like it"..its much the same w/ instruments i think....the older instruments give us a sound we havent heard in a while...so it sounds virtually new...if back in 1970 I played a brand new jackson randy rhoads "A" symetrical axe opver like say a marshall half...or an esp or something...or a shecter er whatever...people would think that axe sounded awesome...like something they've never heard before...and it would be...its just a question of taste i suppose...but i think les paul makes the same quality guitars they always have...its just the collectors value of say a 1953 les paul that makes it worth like 10 freakin times the amount of a new one...but thats just my opinion...gl...
