i dont mean like top to bottom or bottom to top, i mean like which department goes first? I've noticed some similarities between films - such as Prod Manager and First AD are the first when the scrolling credits come on, then sound is usually at the end etc but its not always the same ... is there a correct order, like a union standart?

I am looking for a serious answer... thanks!

Yes, to remain a member of the Screen Actor's Guild, the credits at the begining AND the ending of a movie must be in a certain order according to the SAG Standards. So you are very correct noticing them in the same order for most every film. An example of this: The very last credit at the begining of a film MUST be the Director credit. Some, like George Lucas on Star Wars, put the Director credit as the first credit at the ending of the movie, so the SAG released him from their organization. I don't think he cared all that much...lol

The credits are structured in the order of what the contracts say as well as what the Unions and Guilds say. Therefore, there is no one specific order.

Who really cares or watches the credits and for what purpose?
