I feel angry that some people are breaking the law about underage employment and 'getting away with it'.
It is totally unfair on children who are missing out on education and simply on thr 'fun' of being children.
They are being exploited.

The Government of India has now put a strict ban from 10th Oct 2006 on Child labour. It is a good initiative. But we have to see the real implementation of this thing takes palce.

Really? Do you REALLY think punishing children who are forced to work out in the fields- is fair to them? What about the people like Walmart- who SELL the stuff they make at marked down prices (or the people who line up to BUY those products?!) Wherever there is a "demand", -there's some poor little kid somewhere, working her poor little fingers to the bone so she can help support her family... Don't blame the kids, blame the consumers...

I feel sad for them. Generally the life is so hard in those areas, the kid's probably accept it as life too.
There are probably going to be lots of people blaming the western enconomy for it's existance. But all it takes is severe punishment like you mentioned, but in the most effective form: money.
Those who deal in child labor should be put out of buisness. If everyone stops buying their products, then they would have to turn away from such crule treatment and spend a few extra pennies making their merchandice or selling thier services through normal routes.
The Gap (which owns Banana Republic and Old Navy)
Nike
Reebok
And more... Just stop buying their merchandice. (fat chance though)

yes, I do feel very strongly about child labourers and I fully agree. There are socil institutions who try to help these children but on account of a lot of politics, there isn't a lot they can do. People as one should unite and fight, tht's the only way

how strict? child labour exist in different forms, harsh punishment does not help. problem can only be solved if people take responsibility and act wisely like Mahatma Gandhi.

I feel that it can be devastating to the children. During the Industrial Revolution, children who worked often had their growth stunted if they weren't killed or seriously injured.

Why? It's not like kids are pulling carts in Coal mines. If a child wants to work and he's qualified he should be allowed to work! who are you to tell them otherwise?

I love child labour and anyone who says they don't is a filthy hypocrite. We get our clothes, our nikes, our reeboks, our adidas, much cheaper because we have kids make them. Tell me what's on your feet right now? What does the tag on your shirt say? I love child labour it teaches the kids to work and it cuts prices for us in America!
