It is obvious that the democrats believe they have the Hispanic vote in their camp and don’t want to do anything that might cost them their votes. Actually, a big percentage of Hispanics voted Republican in the last national election. Both parties are being very careful in this election year, that’s why nothing can get passed in congress to address the problem.
Both parties are looking at the illegal immigrants as possible future voters. One party wants to ship them back to where they came from and the other wants to embrace them as potential votes. I leave it up to you to figure out which party is which.
Voting is a right of citizenship and illegal immigrants should not be allowed to vote.

Oh! At first I thought you were asking if the Dems were recruiting *aliens* to vote, and I was going to answer "Sure sounds like it from the people the Dems have already elected"... but that's not what you asked. :)
I do know (heard it on NPR this afternoon) that all 50 states are required to validate their voting registration rolls before the November 2006 election, and it's causing a lot of trouble when some voters are dropped from the rolls when they shouldn'tve been.
My understanding of US law is that in order to vote in a US election, you need to be a US citizen and a registered voter. It is a US citizen's right and responsibility to vote. Non-citizens can look on in envy, and try to become US citizens, but cannot vote.
For a candidate for elective office to insist that non-citizens be given the right to vote shows a misunderstanding of US law. I would be chary of voting for a candidate that was so blase about the meaning and value of US citizenship!

i seem to remember a lot of republican votes cast by convicted felons and dead ppl. plus a lot of votes that were found in machines prior to election time. and besides, the popular vote doesnt matter anyhow, remember? bush lost it, and still became the pres because of the electoral college votes.

I doubt that. How will that even work when most illegals do not have identification of any kind? The conservatives should be the last people accusing another party of voter registration fraud.
