It takes a lot of force energy to do all of that. He's using the force at those times. Just like you can't run all day everyday. But you can walk place to place. When you really need to, like if a dog is coming to chase you, you can run really fast, but later without the adrenaline you might not be able to run so fast. Put that same equation into the controlled environment of force powers and it'll be why yoda at his normal state needs the cane, but with his force prowess, does not.

That's a funny question. The cane is his weapon. Just like Moses walks with a rod that turn into a snake, when he hits the rock with it, water comes out and he also divided the Red Sea with it. Same concept.

The force is tricky like that.
He has more energy while fighting, he puts way more into that then just merly walking around.

you also must remember he is quit old. He doesnt want to use all his power to make him walk.

I have known guys who walked with canes but didn't need or use them except as a weapon.

No real offense meant but do you ever get weary, after using any or all of your own personal "FORCE"???

I suspect when I get to be 700 plus years old, I'll be weary on occasion, and my force won't be "ON" 24/7.

It's a cover-up to deceive the enemies who might think he is old & meek.
