If you have already cleaned out your basement and it is ready for you to occupy the best and easiest remedy is moth balls. They are not that unpleasant smelling and you can use the crystals or the whole balls. Just place them where ever you have seen spiders and they will leave. Also you can simply remove the webs with a straw bristle brush to help get rid of them. We live in the country and use the mothballs under our house and in nooks and crannies and don't see but maybe one spider every once in a while. Good luck and enjoy your space.

Buy the gallon bottle of Ortho Max at Home Depot for about $12-15. It has a small tube and spray handle, and you spray like a professional. It works great, and the big bottle of good stuff is always handy to have around.

humidifiers are not good when it comes to spiders... they love humidity... spiders don't really have predators exept other spiders.. i would try getting a tarantula they love to eat other spiders and they will not bite you ... that much...

try the foggers you buy at wal-mart, they usually work really good, you can get them for spiders and all kinds of other stuff, you just have to leave your house for a couple of hours to let it work....good luck
