Most laptops come with a utility to recalibrate the battery meters. These need to be run occasionally to deal with the fact that battery characteristics change over time. Check your laptop for battery utilities and take a look at the laptops website.

Nothing to worry about. It is like the gas guage on you car. It is a warning device to give you a message. When the gas guage says empty you can drive a few more miles, but, don't do it, put in some gas. When the meter says your battery is dead, hook it up to the charger. Running a battery until the computer powers off on it's own shortens the life of the battery.

you need a new battery, and when u get a new one, drain the batter ALLLL the way 100% because on the initial charge u must have a 100% DEAD BATTERY and it should hold a long long charge after that

Call the store that sold you the battery. A lot of them have been recalled and yours may be one of them. Particularly Sony.
