Are you using the AC Adapter or Battery? If, it the AC Adapter you may have a loose connection on the Board. I have had this happen with may IBM Laptop. What I finally figured out was, when it was sitting in my lap it put pressure on the plug a broke it loose on the board, now after re-soldering it, I keep it sitting on a Book so the power plug not press on my leg and break it again.
If, it happen on the Battery try putting something to apply pressure on the battery to make it fit tight.
If, it both Battery and AC Adapter it happens then it may be a loose connection somewhere on the Board, a cable most likely.
This all I know.
Below me a good thing to try too.
If, it not work and you do decide to go inside and look go here; http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1150/en/index.htm
Click on the Service Manual or whatever it is and it walk you through going inside. IF, you feel you can not do this you may have to take it to a shop. Laptops can be a Booger opening them up and disconnecting cables and stuff.

I would take your battery off and clean the connections with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.
